Ballast’s Portfolio Manager, Ragen Stienke, has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently as the Senior Portfolio Manager of the SMid and SMid Plus products at Westwood Management.
Ballast Asset Management employs a defined process focused on mispriced risk.
Our fundamental, bottom-up process seeks to uncover value in small and mid-cap equities. We are most interested when we believe the market has undeservedly low expectations regarding a company’s prospects despite the company’s ability to generate free cash flow and operate successfully.
There is never certainty that an investment decision will be correct. Rather than attempting to quantify the probability of success, we strive to understand which risks we are taking and the magnitude of those risks. We seek to put the reward to risk ratio heavily in our clients’ favor while preserving capital.
Ballast’s process results in a portfolio of 40-70 long equity positions ranging between $100 million and $10 billion in market capitalization. The portfolio is diversified across end markets, geography, cyclicality, and risk factors.
Ballast is an independent subsidiary of Inverdale Capital Management.
